Easter bunny writing

Amazing writing in Ruma Piwakawaka...

When it was Easter time we did some creative writing using our imaginations.

Mrs Bertrand told us a story.

One day the Easter bunny was hopping along the path, when it came across a strange, mysterious box, just sitting there.  Then the piwakawaka was flying above the path and saw the same box just sitting there.

We talked about what might be in the box. There were lots of different ideas about what could be in the mysterious box.  Some children thought there might be Easter eggs in the box.  (It was Easter time!)

Then we went off and wrote our sentences about what we thought might be in the box.

Later, we opened the lid and took a look inside the mystery box.

We found a beautiful, little tea set.  

It had a teapot, cups and saucers, a milk jug and a sugar bowl.

We decided we would take turns to have a pretend tea party.

What a fun writing session we had!!

Maths - Number word problems

We have been diving into the number strand of maths, and exploring different ways of recording our problems.

The children talked about their findings and enjoyed being able to draw and write on the whiteboards to work out their answers.

Mia had 7 little Easter eggs and she gave 2 of her eggs to Britney.  How many eggs does Mia have now?

Keegan had 5 Easter eggs and Aston had 6 Easter eggs.  How many eggs did they have altogether?

Junior Swimming Day

On Friday we had our junior swimming demonstration.

We have been learning how to be confident and safe in the water.

We have been learning to float, glide and swim in our school pool.

We can blow bubbles under water and we can dive down to the bottom.

Roblero 'r' day...

We saw some other children dressed up for 'r' day.

He was being a rebel rider bringing his motorbike into our hall!

Well done everyone.  Together we raised over $500 for our sponsor child!

Dressing up for 'r' day.

On Wednesday Ruma Piwakawaka children dressed up as something beginning with the letter 'r'.

Why?... We were raising money for Roblero who is Goodwood School's sponsored child.

"We want to give some money because we really care about you" said Riley.

"We dressed up as anything for 'r' day" said Aston.

"We dressed up for Roblero day" said Ty.

We came dressed as runners, rabbits, rock stars, red riding hoods, robbers, royalty, Raphael, riders, Captain Riley and robots.

Our teacher,  Mrs Bertrand, dressed up as a ruler!!  We thought we could measure 

ourselves with her.

It was a fun day for everyone.
