Welcome to Ruma Piwakawaka

Our first blog post...

We have had an awesome start to school in Ruma Piwakawaka this week.  We have spent the first week getting to know each other, and our teacher, Mrs Bertrand.   It has been really hot, so we have enjoyed our swim in the afternoons.

We met our junior team leader who teaches in Ruma Warou, Ms Gerritsen.  We had fun singing and dancing in the library together.

We got to see our old friends and meet some new friends, as we explored our new classroom together.

Question: What is special about the piwakawaka bird?

  1. Ruma Piwakawaka - what a great three days you had in Week 1. I think the Piwakawaka is a friendly bird. From Ms Copping

    1. Yes it does look quite amazing doesn't it Zach. I wonder if the piwakawaka uses it's tail like a fan to cool down??!!! Mrs Bertrand

Mia: "the Piwakawaka has a fan for a tail that holds it together that makes it a fan tail. It is pretty and friendly. It will come really close to you, puts its fan out and wiggles it and then flies away"
Interesting Mia! Love that Mia can see her class and the learning on the blog! She enjoyed seeing herself in the pool (and prompted lots of great stories about her learning!). Thank you Mrs Bertrand, the Dahlberg whanau are so appreciative of the start you are helping our wee Goodwood Exploerer have to her school learning journey :) (Jayne and Jay)
